Raise your hand (even though I can’t see you do it) if you have ever been to Peavine Falls?

If you raised your hand, you are not alone.

Peavine Falls is probably the most visited or asked about attraction in Oak Mountain State Park.

Peavine Falls is a roughly 65-foot waterfall located on Double Oak Mountain within the boundaries of Oak Mountain State Park.

The waterfall is fed by a small stream known as Peavine Branch.

Because of the cool waters coming off the mountain, the pool below the falls is a well-loved spot to play in the water on those hot sunny summer days.

Just remember, it flows best in the wet weather months, so it is a good idea to check with the park before making the trek to the falls because it can sometimes be barely a trickle.

You can access Peavine Falls several different ways; some are easier than others.

If you don’t want to walk very far, drive your car all the way to the top of the mountain from Terrace Drive and park in the parking lot, hop on the White Trail for a 1/2 mile and you can see the top of the falls.

Or if you want something a little more difficult, hike the Green Trail from Terrace Drive to the top of the mountain and connect to the White Trail.

Want the best view? Well, you will have to work for it a little bit. The best view comes from inside the valley of the Falls.

You will need to follow the signs to the bottom of the falls. There is not a direct route to the bottom.

Be careful because it is steep, rocky and can be slippery (if it has rained recently).
