COLUMBIANA – Arrest warrants have been issued for a 22-year-old Homewood man charged with a Pelham armed robbery after he allegedly failed to appear in court for a March hearing, according to Shelby County District Court documents.

Arthur Peter Alexis III, who lists an address on Olympia Drive in Homewood, was set to appear in court for a preliminary hearing on March 25.

“Defendant failed to appear in court on 3/25/15,” read an order issued by District Court Judge Dan Reeves on March 25, which ordered Alexis to be rearrested.

The Pelham Police Department originally arrested Alexis on March 2 and charged him with one felony count of first-degree robbery. He was released from the Shelby County Jail on March 5 after posting a $60,000 bond.

As of May 4, Alexis had not been rearrested on his failure to appear warrant.

Alexis’ March 2 arrest came after the Pelham Police Department issued a warrant for his arrest in October 2014. The suspect’s arrest warrant claims he was involved in robbing a man in Pelham’s Greenpark South Mobile Home Park on Oct. 9, 2014.

Pelham Police Chief Larry Palmer said Alexis, a juvenile suspect, an adult female suspect and an adult male suspect allegedly stole U.S. currency, a cell phone and car keys during the armed robbery.

The victim was allegedly robbed outside of his home, police said previously. No injuries were reported from the incident.

According to his arrest warrant, Alexis allegedly was armed with a gun at the time of the incident.

Nikita Latoya Mahone, 27, of Birmingham, was arrested on Oct. 15 and was identified as the alleged getaway driver in the armed robbery. She was charged with first-degree robbery, a Class A felony charge, and placed in the Shelby County Jail under a $60,000 bond. Mahone was released from jail after posting bond on Oct. 21.

Mahone was on federal probation at the time of the Oct. 9 robbery.

First-degree robbery is a Class A felony. If convicted, Alexis could face up to life in prison, according to Alabama law.
