David “Pop” Holcombe

David “Pop” Holcombe, age 71, of Brierfield, went home on Tuesday, May 12.
He was a Vietnam veteran serving in the U.S. Army and attended Montevallo Church of God. He retired from the Walmart in Calera. He loved hunting, fishing, grilling for his children and grandchildren, and watching Alabama football.
He was preceded in death by his parents, C.C. and Elvie Holcombe; youngest daughter, Jennifer Hyde; and granddaughter, Ashley Church.
Pop is survived by his wife of 48 years, Mary “Kathy” Holcombe; sons, Bo Holcombe (Susan) and Keith Holcombe (Kathy); daughter, Alicia Church (Oscar); 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Mary and Ruth.
Visitation will be held Thursday, May 14 from 6-8 p.m. at Rockco Funeral Home (Montevallo). Funeral services will be Friday, May 15 at 11:30 a.m. at Rockco, with burial to follow at Alabama National Cemetery at 12:30 p.m. Bro. Jeff Holsomback will officiate.
