The 2015 North-South all-star boys’ and girls’ soccer teams for the 19th annual Alabama All-Star Sports Week competition were announced Monday by Alvin Briggs, Director of the Alabama High School Athletic Directors & Coaches Association.

The soccer teams are each comprised of 18 current junior student-athletes from across the state. Both will play Tuesday, July 21, at Montgomery’s Emory Folmar Soccer Complex. The teams were chosen from nominations submitted by high school coaches from across the state to participate at annual AHSAA Summer Conference and AHSADCA All-Star Games competition in Montgomery July 20-25, according to Briggs.

There are six Shelby County athletes highlighting the list.

On the boys side, Hunter Holstad, Phildon Dublin and Anthony Pack were nominated for the North. Holstad is listed as a 6-foot-1-inch, 160-pound center back who anchored the back line for the Oak Mountain Eagles in 2015, which culminated with a 7A state title. Dublin is a 6-foot-1-inch, 175-pound goalkeeper from Helena. In Helena’s first year as a school, and consequently first year on the soccer pitch, Dublin helped lead the Huskies to the 4A-5A Final Four. The Huskies had nine clean sheets in 2015, and gave up two goals or less in 17 out of 25 games they played. Anthony Pack is listed as a 5-foot-6-inch, 125-pound forward for the 1A-3A power Indian Springs. Pack helped lead Indian Springs to a 21-2-2 and led a high-powered offense that scored three goals or more in 16 games out of 25.

For the girls, Alexandra Dunn, Rachel Motamed and Megan Young made the cut for the North All-Stars. Dunn, a forward, helped lead the Lady Eagles of Oak Mountain to their second straight state title this season, this most recent championship being the first 7A title. Motamed, a forward as well, helped direct Indian Spring’s offense and led the team to a 14-5-3 record. Young, also a forward, helped lead the Lady Hornets of Chelsea to 13-9-1 record, and led the team to a sixth-place final ranking in class 6A.

Jonathan Hammett, head coach for Chelsea’s girls team, has been named the head coach for the North All-Stars.
