ALABASTER – Those looking to enjoy the summer weather while spending time with family and friends and catching a family friendly movie will have several opportunities to do so in Alabaster over the next few months.

The city’s Movies in the Park program will begin on June 12, and will run through the end of July at Alabaster’s Veterans Park off Alabama 119 near the Alabaster-Montevallo line.

During each free movie event, attendees are encouraged to bring a blanket or chair to sit on, as well as some snacks and drinks to enjoy during the show. When dusk arrives, which is usually around 8 p.m., the city’s Parks and Recreation Department will project the movie onto a large inflatable screen set up in one of the park’s large fields.

The following movies will be shown on the following Friday nights:

-June 12: “Disney Planes – Fire and Rescue” – Rated PG with an 83-minute running time

-June 26: “Daddy Daycare” – Rated PG with a 93-minute running time

-July 10: “Beethoven” – Rated PG with an 87-minute running time

-July 24: “Walt Disney’s Sleeping Beauty 50th anniversary edition” – Rated G with a 75-minute running time.
