NORTH SHELBY—The St. Vincent’s One Nineteen Block Party and Health Festival is returning June 13, and this year it’s going to be bigger and better than ever.

The annual block party offers fun for the whole family, including games, food, live music and health screenings. This year’s party also marks the 10th anniversary of St. Vincent’s One Nineteen.

“It’s really a time to celebrate the community that has supported such a unique integration of fitness, spa and medical services that’s really like no other in the area,” Executive Director of St. Vincent’s One Nineteen and Vice President of Operations for the St. Vincent’s Ambulatory Healthcare Network Stephanie Holderby said. “It’s going to be bigger this year because of the 10-year celebration and because of the expansion on the campus, which furthers our commitment to provide services to the community.”

The event offers a blend of fun and healthy activities for all ages. From traditional face painting and balloon art to a 70-foot inflatable obstacle course, bubble soccer and rock-climbing, there’s sure to be “something for everyone,” Holderby said.

A variety of health screenings will also be available during the block party. Attendees can get free cholesterol and glucose, hearing and vision and blood pressure screenings, and free physical therapy assessments. Mammograms will also be offered for a discounted rate of $99.

However, the event’s “biggest attraction” is a tethered hot air balloon. For just $10, attendees can take a ride in the balloon. All money raised will go directly to the St. Vincent’s Foundation.

“It is actually a donation to our ministry here in Shelby County,” Holderby explained. “We are a nonprofit organization, and sometimes we need to provide new services or offer new experiences to our community. Sometimes it’s challenging to pay for those as a nonprofit.”

Admittance to the June 13 block party is free. The event will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on the St. Vincent’s One Nineteen campus, 7191 Cahaba Valley Road. For more information, visit Onenineteen.com.
