CALERA – The northbound lanes of Interstate 65 from mile marker 231 to mile marker 234 are temporarily closed as crews work to clear the scene of a five-vehicle crash that occurred in the early afternoon hours of June 9.

One person was treated for minor injuries following the crash, which involved two 18-wheelers, a box transport truck and two personal vehicles, Calera Fire Department Capt. Hane Stoudenmire said.

The crash occurred just before the mile marker 234 off-ramp on I-65, Stoudenmire said.

Traffic is being diverted onto U.S. 31.

The Calera Fire Department responded to the wreck.

The Alabama Department of Transportation and Shelby County EMA are involved with the cleanup.

As of about 4:45 p.m., Stoudenmire said the I-65 northbound lanes should reopen soon.
