By JESSA PEASE / Staff Reporter

CALERA—Calera Police Department released its report on the manhunt that took place the afternoon of June 16.

Two Calera residents—24-year-old Jonah Morris Allen and 35-year-old Kenrick Samuel Allen were taken into custody after allegedly fleeing from Calera Police at around 1:15 p.m.

Police attempted to stop the two suspects at the intersection of U.S. 31 and 17th Avenue, but the driver allegedly refused to stop and led officers on a vehicle pursuit over the I-65 line. When the road reached a dead-end, the suspects allegedly fled on foot, allowing their vehicle to crash into the wood-line.

In an information report released June 17, Calera Police Department states that one of the suspects fired at the officers before fleeing to the woods in Timberline. While the driver of the vehicle was immediately apprehended, the passenger remained at large.

After setting up a triangular perimeter in Timberline, the second suspect was caught at about 3:08 p.m.

Jonah Allen, who was recently released from prison on robbery charges, was charged with three counts of attempted murder. Kendrick Allen was charged with reckless driving, attempting to elude, obstructing governmental operations, second-degree possession of marijuana and illegal possession of prescription medication.

No further details have been released.
