Pelham responds to Hazmat incident, closes roadways

PELHAM—Officers are responding to a Hazmat incident after an accident involving a tanker truck on County Road 11 in the area of County Road 52. Pelham Police Department, Pelham and Chelsea Fire Departments and the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office are responding to this situation.

Deputies are closing both lanes of about four miles of County Road 11, from Old Hwy 280 to County Road 36, until the Pelham Fire Department and Chelsea Fire Department have safely cleared the scene. There is also a power outage in this area.

According to the Pelham Police Department, Shelby County 11 between Dickerson Road and Kelly Drive will be closed until at least 2 p.m. today.

The accident occurred at about 7 a.m.
