PELHAM— With only a few weeks left of summer vacation, Pelham City Schools are gearing up for the 2015-2016 school year. The first day of school is Aug. 12, and registration has already begun at Pelham High School.

Registration at Pelham High School will be between either 7-10 a.m. and 4-6 p.m. depending on the students’ classifications. Senior registration is July 13-14, juniors register July 15-16, sophomore registration July 20-21 and freshman register July 22-23.

Freshman are also invited to attend Camp Pelham, its freshman orientation, on Aug. 10 from 9-11 a.m. Students can get acquainted with the halls of the school, meet their teachers and find their classrooms.

Riverchase Middle School starts registration on July 23 with sixth grade from 7:30-10:30 a.m. and seventh and eighth grade from 1-4 p.m. Sixth-graders are also invited to Sixth Grade Academy on Aug. 11 from 9:30-11:30 a.m. This is a student-only event to help students get used to their new school.

There will be a makeup registration day for all grades July 30 from 4-6 p.m. New student registration is every Tuesday. Parents can call 624-3702 to make an appointment.

Valley Intermediate School will hold follow-up registration for students who have been notified of missing documentation on July 16. The third grade session will be from 8-11 a.m. and the fourth and fifth grade session is 1-3:30 p.m. The makeup registration day for all grades will be from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.

Information about teacher placements will be mailed to students prior to Meet the Teacher on Aug. 10. Orientation will be from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. for third-graders, from 12:45-1:45 p.m. for fourth-graders and from 2-3 p.m. for fifth-graders.

New students can register on Tuesdays. Parents can call 624-3703 to for appointments.

Valley Elementary School will hold proof of residency day on July 15 and July 23 from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. New student registration will be on Tuesdays in June and July from 8:30 a.m.-2 p.m.

Teacher placements will be mailed prior to Meet the Teacher on Aug. 10. Kindergarten Meet the Teacher will be from 10:30-11:30 a.m., first grade will be from 9:15-10:15 a.m. and second grade will be from 8-9 a.m.
