Bring a chair (but not a cooler) and catch the Columbiana Trolley to this year’s Shelby County Shindig on July 18.

A little music, a little art and a whole lot of fun are planned for the day.

This year’s event includes an Artist village featuring artists from around Shelby County. Meet Teresa Wamble, Diana Hiott, Dave Livesay, Brian Bohanon, Lindsay Dyess, Duffy Morrison and members of the SCAC Pottery Collective.

All artists will have a tent featuring their unique art.

Enjoy a wide range of music from: The Intermission Duo featuring Barbara Snyder and Josh Arnold; Raquel Lily (Indie, Pop, Rock) ; Corey Tucker (Southern Rock/Country); Dave and Allen (covering the hits from the Beatles, Neil Young, Eric Clapton and more); Rosewood (Bluegrass) and a drum circle with John Scalici.

If all that’s not enough, sample some of the area’s best barbecue from the Shindig Cook Teams.

Public tasting begins at 4 p.m. and goes until 5:30 p.m.

Your votes will determine the People’s Choice Award of the contest.

Tasting Bands are required (10/advance or 15/gate) and may be ordered at Shelbycountyshindig.com.

This is a joint fundraising event for the Shelby County Arts Council and the South Shelby Chamber of Commerce.

Both organizations work to make Shelby County, Ala., a better place to live, work and play.
