HELENA–The Law Firm of Alford & Barnes, LLC recently moved to Helena in May and attorneys John Barnes and John Alford can help their clients in whatever area of service they’re looking for.

Alford & Barnes is a general practice firm and the two partnered in March of 2014.

The firm began in Bessemer, before eventually moving to Helena. Barnes noted that the location and city of Helena as a whole were two of the factors for moving the firm to Helena.

“We did some research about how many vehicles are on 52 out there and about 13,000 travel it every day so that was one factor,” said Barnes. “Another was that we were looking for more of a community that identified itself as a place that is convenient and welcoming to families. We do a lot of family law, criminal defense, a lot of probate work but we’re a general practice firm and we do a little bit of everything.”

Both Alford and Barnes graduated from the Birmingham School of Law in 2011 and Barnes discussed how he would like the firm to get more involved in the Helena community in the coming months.

“Our short term goals I feel like we’re still trying to get our name out in the community,” said Barnes. “There are still some folks who don’t even know we’re here yet, so we’re running some ads and we’ve been one of the presenting sponsors of the Movies in the Park.”

Barnes also noted that they will be offering a free program for educators in September.

“What we’re planning on doing in September is a Wills for Educators program that we will offer a free, simple will to any educator who either lives or works in Helena.”
