Supportive gestures in the form of green bows, notes of sympathy and monetary donations have poured in for Haleigh Green’s family since her death last month.

On Aug. 11, Green’s uncle, Patrick Green, said the family is grateful for the widespread support but is ready to close this chapter of their lives and continue to heal.

“The Green family needs nothing else but prayer,” Patrick Green said in a phone interview. “That’s it. No money needs to be raised. The community stepped out to do everything they could, above and beyond, and we’re very appreciative.”

The family received about $23,000 from donations raised in conjunction with Main Street Florist owner Susan Conn and numerous volunteers assembling green bows for people to display on their mailboxes and doors.

Patrick Green said the donations met the family’s needs related to Haleigh’s funeral expenses, and no additional fundraisers or donations are necessary.

His statements came after a fundraiser planned for Aug. 12 at Moe’s Southwest Grill in Alabaster was canceled.

“All the financial obligations have been fulfilled,” Patrick Green said. “Now, we just want her (Haleigh) to be able to rest and people to say they did a good job. I want people to understand we’re saying thank you, but nothing else is needed.”
