VINCENT – Corner came into Vincent on Aug. 28 and had its way with the host Yellow Jackets. Corner held Vincent to negative rushing yards for the game and only allowed one completed pass all night. At the half, the score was 55-0, even worse than last week’s game against West Blocton, in which the Yellow Jackets gave up 41 first half points.

The Corner Yellow Jackets, a 5A school, had too much depth and too many bodies to throw at the understaffed Vincent team. The host Yellow Jackets had no chance against the visitors with the same nickname, and couldn’t keep pace.

For the second straight game, to paint the game in a slightly optimistic light, Vincent held its opponent to a touchdown or less in the second half. Brett Burrage, Robbie Albright and Zeb McCord led the way for Vincent defensively. McCord also had a fumble recovery as well. Sophomore running back Cole Fincher recovered a fumble and ran 38 yards for Vincent’s only score of the night.

The Vincent Yellow Jackets will next take on 2A Holy Spirit in a Region 3 matchup on Sept. 4.
