Armed Forces Wives Club holding welcome event Sept. 10

The Armed Forces Officers Wives Club for the greater Birmingham metro area conducted its first Board Meeting of the new 2015-2016 Fiscal Year on Aug. 27. The new slate of officers was introduced by local resident and club President Jane Galik and board members immediately began finalizing details and programs for the months ahead.

Luncheon meetings are held on the second Thursday of each month from September through May at various country clubs in the metro area and are followed by interesting presentations and programs.

Membership is open to spouses of active duty or reserve officers of the military as well as active duty and retired female Armed Forces officers who retire with at least 20 years of active duty. Membership is also open to widows of qualifying retired military officers.

The AFOWC new fiscal year kicks off with a Welcome Coffee to be held on Thursday, Sept. 10 at 10:30 a.m. This year’s coffee is being hosted by Jessie Key of Mountain Brook.
