A Montevallo woman died in a single-vehicle crash on the afternoon of Sept. 7.

Markela Lashae Lawley, 34, was killed when the 2007 Dodge Caliber she was driving left the roadway and struck a utility pole at about 5:47 p.m. on Shelby County 61, three miles south of Columbiana, according to Alabama State Troopers.

Lawley was not using a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

No more information is available as Alabama State Troopers continue to investigate the crash.
