FROM STAFF REPORTS

Governor Robert Bentley’s Office is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of a person or persons responsible for the Sept. 5 murder of a 25-year-old Birmingham man in the parking lot of Home Depot off U.S. 280.

Xavier Beasley, an employee of the Hoover Home Depot, was shot and killed while leaving work for the night.

According to the Hoover Police Department, it appeared Beasley was specifically targeted by the unknown gunman.

“It appears the suspect may have been waiting on the victim to walk into the parking lot, and started firing as soon as he approached,” a news release from the Hoover police following the murder read. “The victim likely knew the suspect and it appears that he was specifically targeted.”

Anyone with information related to the Sept. 5 murder should contact Hoover Police Sgt. Keith Czeskleba at 739-6795 or 822-5300.
