COLUMBIANA – A 51-year-old Maylene man is facing a maximum of 10 years in prison after a Shelby County grand jury returned a two-count indictment against him alleging he threatened Alabaster police officers and stated he planned to drive his pickup truck through his ex-wife’s mobile home.

The grand jury during its October session indicted Darrell Dwayne Allinder, who lists an address on Shelby County 17 in Maylene, on one felony count of making terrorist threats and one misdemeanor count of third-degree domestic violence – harassment.

According to his arrest warrants, Allinder’s charges stemmed from a March 11 incident, during which he allegedly “stated that if the victim did not talk to him, he was going to run his truck through the mobile home.”

After police arrived on the scene, Allinder allegedly threatened a pair of Alabaster officers, claiming he would “kick their (expletive)” while he was allegedly armed with a “large fixed-blade knife,” according to his indictment.

Allinder is now set to appear in Shelby County Circuit Court on Nov. 9 for an arraignment, where he will be advised of his charges and will have an opportunity to plead guilty or not guilty to the charges.

Allinder was released from the Shelby County Jail the day after his arrest after posting bonds totaling $17,000.

Making terrorist threats is a Class C felony. If convicted, Allinder could face up to 10 years in prison.
