If you’re reading this, congratulations on finding time to do so as many folks start juggling ‘to-do lists’ for the holidays.
Be sure to keep the library on your list to help you get things done and have fun.
It’s not too late for Thanksgiving comfort with these two books, one for adults and one for kids: “Thanksgiving: How to Cook It Well” and “Over the River and through the Wood: The New England Boy’s Song about Thanksgiving Day.”
December holidays are coming and kids may like a twist on “‘Twas the Night before Christmas” like: “Dinosaurs’ Night before Christmas,” “Olaf’s Night before Christmas,” “Soldier’s Night before Christmas,” “Alabama Night before Christmas,” “‘Twas Nochebuena” and several others.
Enjoy singing “The Twelve Days of Christmas?” For a change check out “A Pirate’s Twelve Days of Christmas,” “Twelve Bots of Christmas,” and “The Twelve Days of Christmas: A Pinon Tree.”
Want to ‘wow’ everyone with your Christmas cooking? Crack open “12 Days of Christmas Cookbook: The Ultimate in Effortless Holiday Entertaining” and “Christmas with Southern Living 2015: The Ultimate Guide to Holiday Cooking and Decorating.”
Thinking about gift-giving and want reviews? We have “Consumer Reports.”
Whether you spell the eight-day Festival of Lights ‘Hanukkah’, ‘Chanukah’, or ‘Hanukah’ a cute library book for kids is “How Do Dinosaurs Celebrate Chanukah.”
The weeklong African American harvest festival Kwanzaa is nearly 50 years old.
Among the Kwanzaa books we have is “The Sound of Kwanzaa.”
With New Year’s Eve comes thoughts of resolutions and traditions and kids can read “Shante’ Keys and the New Year’s Peas.”
Besides books, magazines and DVDs we offer the gift of programs. For kids: Story times are Wednesdays – Tunes & Tales, 3:30 p.m.; Fridays – Toddler Tales, 10:30 a.m.; and Dec. 23 and Dec. 30 – Winter Break Story Time, 10:15 a.m. at the library.
Dec. 3 – Frozen Fantasy Fun, 4 p.m. Kids 5 years old and older can sign up and come in costume if they desire.
Dec. 8 – Gingerbread Workshop, 6:15 p.m. Families must sign up in advance and pre-pay $3 per houseby Dec. 7. Make checks out to the library. Sorry, no refunds. All children must be with an adult.
