CHELSEA – The Chelsea Public Library will be closed certain days for the Christmas and New Year’s holidays, and several weekly events will not be held.

The library will be closed on Dec. 24-26 and Jan. 1.

Tot Spot, a program geared toward children ages 1 to 4 years old, will have a Christmas party with a story and refreshments on Dec. 16.

Tot Spot, which meets on Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m., will not be held on Dec. 23 and Dec. 30. The regular schedule will resume on Jan. 6.

The Bring Your Own Crochet (Craft) group, which meets on Fridays at 10 a.m., will meet Dec. 18, but not Dec. 25 or Jan. 1.

The library has a new phone number: 618-9735. Calls will not roll over to another line, so callers who don’t get an answer should call back or wait for library staff to return the call.

Patrons are asked to remain patient as the transition is ongoing.

In other news, the library recently updated its magazine holdings and now offers 50-plus magazines for patrons to read and save via Flipster, an app on the library’s website that allows library card holders access to electronic books and magazines.

Back issues are available for almost all of the magazines. Recently added selections are: Food Network Magazine, Marie Claire, Nickelodean Magazine and more.

The selection includes 11 magazines for children, along with nine creative magazines that cover cake decorating, crochet, knitting and beading. Others include home and family offerings, exercise, health and wellness, technology, cars and news.
