HOOVER—The Spain Park High School gym is usually home to the school’s winning basketball teams, but on Dec. 11, the school’s band, choirs and dance teams took the court for the annual Holiday Showcase.

Each year, the Spain Park Holiday Showcase highlights the school’s numerous music and dance groups through a performance in front of the entire student body.

“It’s a tradition, we do it every year,” Spain Park Principal Larry Giangrosso said. “They’ve been practicing for weeks to put it on.”

This year’s musical acts included classic Christmas carols led by the Spain Park band, a theatrical rendition of “The 12 Days of Christmas” from the men’s chamber choir and songs from the combined choir and show choir.

Each of the school’s dance groups performed a holiday-themed number, displaying talent in a number of genres, from hip hop to ballet. The Holiday Showcase concluded with a group performance.

“Our dancers, our band, they’re top notch,” Giangrosso said. “There’s just a lot of talent (at Spain Park). We’re very proud of them.”
