Shelby County City Clerk’s Association marks 10th anniversary

The Shelby County City Clerk’s Association met for its regular quarterly meeting Dec. 17 at The Coal Yard Bar and Grill in Helena and celebrated its 10th anniversary.

The sponsor for the luncheon was Trustmark Bank in Helena.

The Shelby County City Clerk’s Association first began in December 2005 and held its first meeting at Blue Spring Manor in Vincent.

The association was founded by City Clerk Becky Landers, who served as president of the association for three years.

The Shelby County City Clerk’s Association meets quarterly in different cities and towns located in Shelby County and shares information and experience pertinent to the city clerk’s position.

The 2015 officers for the Shelby County City Clerk’s Association were President Margie Handley (Hoover), Vice-President Becky Landers (Chelsea), Secretary Amanda Traywick (Helena) and Treasurer Marsha Yates (Pelham).

The upcoming 2016 officers are President Becky Landers (Chelsea), Vice-President Amanda Traywick (Helena), Secretary Stacy Walkup (Harpersville) and Treasurer Marsha Yates (Pelham).
The Shelby County City Clerk’s Association will meet quarterly in 2016, and Landers plans to have guest speakers for the meetings to speak on topics and training for the upcoming 2016 municipal elections, which will be held for all cities and towns in Shelby County on Aug. 23.

The next Shelby County City Clerk’s luncheon is set for March 16 at the new Chelsea Community Center located on Shelby County 47 in Chelsea.
