COLUMBIANA – A 35-year-old Alabaster woman will spend the next few years in prison after she pleaded guilty to a felony identity theft charge in late 2015.

Jantifer Rose Evans, who lists an address on Brentwood Drive in Alabaster, pleaded guilty to one felony count of identity theft in October 2015.

As a result, Circuit Court Judge Dan Reeves sentenced Evans to 36 months in prison followed by two years of supervised probation. While incarcerated, Evans must undergo a substance abuse treatment assessment and possibly a substance abuse treatment program.

While on probation, Evans must take and pass random drug and alcohol screenings.

The Alabaster Police Department arrested Evans on Nov. 22, 2014, and charged her with one felony count of identity theft.

Evans’ guilty plea to the identity theft charge marked her fifth felony conviction, leading to a longer-than-normal prison sentence for the identity theft charge.

The arrest came after Evans did “obtain, record or access identifying information that would assist in accessing financial resources, obtaining identification documents or obtaining benefits of the victim,” according to her arrest warrant. The warrant listed a Nov. 22, 2014, offense date.

According to her indictment, Evans stole the victim’s Social Security card, driver’s license and immigration papers.
