Jackie Faye Spates, age 79, of Harpersville, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 12 at Shelby Baptist Medical Center in Alabaster.

Funeral services will be Monday, Jan. 18 at 2 p.m. at Providence Baptist Church. Burial will be in Harpersville Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, Jan. 17 from 6-8 p.m. Dr. Darryl Wood, Rev. Zane Smith and Rev. William Rayfield will be officiating.

Survivors include her husband, R.V. Spates of Harpersville; daughter, Sarah (Claude) Slaughter of Harpersville; son, Jerry Spates of Harpersville; sisters, Joyce Spates of Sylacauga, Marie Lawley of Jemison, Shirley Howard of Harpersville, Ann Humphries of McCalla, and Linda Powers of Helena; brother, Bub Nix of Johnston City, Ill.; grandchildren, Josh Slaughter, Emily Sylestine, Jessica Whittle, Katie Slaughter, Jared Spates, and Karlee Slaughter; great-grandchildren, Bailee Whittle, Brantlee Whittle, and Connor Sylestine.
