Horace Michael “Shug” Farmer, 69, of Montevallo died Saturday, Jan. 23, at Shelby Baptist Medical Center, Alabaster.

He was born on Monday, April 22, 1946 in Chilton County, Ala., son of the late W.H. Farmer and the late Carrie P. Rogers Farmer.

He was a truck driver.

Surviving are his daughters, Angela (Nick) Dyer of Calera, Lisa (David) Gothard of Calera, Denise (Justin) Farmer of Verbena, Mandy (BJ) Bond of Clanton, sons, Wayne (Angie) Farmer of Jemison, Kevin (Wendy) Farmer of Calera; 11 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren; brother, Jimmy Pruett of Montevallo; and sister, Rhonda Frederick of Clanton.

He was preceded in death by his parents, W.H. & Carrie Farmer.

Friends will be received from 5-7 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 24 at Martin Funeral Home. Services will be held Monday, Jan. 25 at 11 a.m. at Martin Chapel with Rev. Randy Gothard officiating. Interment will follow in Thorsby Memory Gardens, Thorsby. Martin Funeral Home directing.
