HELENA–Singing and dancing filled the Helena High School auditorium on Thursday, Feb. 4, as students had the opportunity to show off their array of talents in the second annual Unleashed Talent Showcase.

The Helena High School Theatre and Literary Magazine presented the Unleashed Talent Showcase that featured many Helena students performing songs, dance routines, playing instruments or playing in a band.

One of the students who performed was junior John McCain who sang Morris Albert’s 1975 song “Feelings,” and described his favorite thing about Unleashed.

“I like how it’s so informal and we can make jokes and if we have problems we can work to fix those,” said McCain. “It’s a lot looser than the plays because if we make a mistake in the play we get scolded for it.”

Some of the other performances included dances from Q Wallace, Curtis Woods, Parker Bass and Savannah Key.

Some of the songs performed included “Save me,” “Ain’t no sunshine,” “House of gold,” “Burn the night away,” “This,” “Eruption,” “Someone like you,” “Stitches,” “Medley,” “Adolescent,” “If I die young,” “Cowboy Casanova,” “Coming home,” and “I’m free.”

McCain said one of the main reasons he became interested in theater was because of Helena Fine Arts teacher Jeb Casey.

“What happened was my sophomore year I joined theatre and Mr. Casey is an amazing man and has changed my entire future technically,” said McCain. “I wanted to be an engineer but then Casey introduced me to theater and that same year I was in three plays.”
