Elizabeth Elaine Roberts, of Alabaster, has stepped into eternity on Saturday, Feb. 6 at the earthly age of 16 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born July 4, 1999.

Elaine is preceded in death by her father, Bruce Brent Roberts Jr., and maternal grandmother, Mary Anne Hargett Creel.

Elaine is survived by her mother, Laura Creel Roberts of Alabaster; maternal grandparents, Ron and Shirley Creel of Montgomery; paternal grandparents, Bruce and Sue Roberts of Curry; uncle and aunt, Ron Creel Jr. and Jennifer Foxworth Creel of Wetumpka; cousin, Kayleigh Anne Creel of Wetumpka; and aunt, Pam Roberts.

She leaves behind a loving stepfamily, Darrell Newell, Carleigh Melton (Jake), and Shelby Newell. Elaine is also survived by bonus uncles, Dr. Randy McKissack and Steven McKissack, and cherished bonus cousins, J.T. McKissack (Laurel) and Evan McKissack. As well, she leaves extended family Tommy Roberts, Greg Roberts, Billy Hargett, Trish Manley (Steve), Matthew Manley, Sarah Manley, Lucy Hatch (Steve), Sam Hatch (Glynnis), Mike Hatch, Jimmy Hatch, John Hatch, Phil Creel (Lynn), Jean Love, Kathryn Chandler, and numerous cousins. Her beloved dogs Pretzell, Lucy, and Teddy are sad and confused.

Elaine was a junior at Thompson High School and was a member of the Thompson Warriors tennis team. She participated in many activities in her short life. She studied piano for 11 years at the Pelham School of Fine Arts, cheered in youth cheerleading programs in Helena and Alabaster, for six years, participated in the Alabaster Girl Scout Troop 993, and competed with the Pelham swim team for several years – all activities she loved.

Elaine accepted Jesus as her Savior in the second grade at Mountaintop Community Church in Vestavia Hills. Though she planned to attend Auburn University to become a veterinarian, she joined God and fulfilled His perfect plan for her. Loved by all who knew her, her kind heart and infectious smile will be missed.

A service exalting God and honoring Elaine will be held Wednesday, Feb. 10 at Westwood Baptist Church in Alabaster. Beginning with visitation from 10:30 a.m. –  noon, the funeral led by Dr. Matt Brooks will follow immediately. A short graveside service, led by John Gates of Mount Vernon Baptist Church in Curry, will be held at Curry Cemetery beginning at 3 p.m. Wednesday.

Pallbearers will be Steve Faulkner, Rob Garner, Jake Huggins, Emerson Price, Zach Robinson, Nathan Walton and Rusty Wilkes.

Honorary Pallbearers will be the members of the Thompson Warriors girls and boys tennis teams.

A foundation has been set up in Elaine’s memory to promote education about Alveolar Rhabdomyosarcoma and to provide research funding to rid the world of all childhood cancers.
