Hannah Home Shelby Auxiliary’s annual spring fundraiser benefiting a local shelter will feature Sister Schubert’s founder and CEO Patricia Barnes as keynote speaker.

The 2016 HHSA Spring Tablescapes Luncheon will be held April 6 at Metro Church of God in Hoover to raise money for King’s Home Shelby, a Christ-centered shelter for women and children fleeing domestic abuse and other problematic circumstances.

Barnes, also known as Sister Schubert, will speak about her baking company, and signed copies of her memoir cookbook, “Celebrations of the Heart,” will be available for purchase.

Tables decorated to reflect a wide variety of themes will be on display, and attendees may cast cash “votes” for their favorite tables to determine the Tablescape winner. Proceeds from table votes, a silent auction and event ticket sales go toward operational expenses at King’s Home Shelby.

“It’s really amazing to see the level of creativity that goes into these Tablescapes,” Auxiliary President Janie Dollar wrote in a press release. “We so appreciate the volunteer design teams’ time and effort to build them, and we encourage everyone to come out and support this fun event to benefit King’s Home Shelby, a Hannah Home.”

Doors open at 10 a.m. for attendees to view the Tablescapes and to bid on silent auction items until 11:45 a.m. Guests will be seated at each table for a catered lunch and the keynote speech.

Typically, 25-30 different designers and local stores, including Pottery Barn and Rosegate Design Interiors, design tables. The Spain Park Home Economics Department will also have an entry.

Prodigal Pottery, a line of pottery made by King’s Home residents under the direction of Jamie Ankenbrandt, will be onsite.

“We hope to get a big crowd this year, so come and support your favorite design team,” Tablescapes Chairwoman Tamara Moser wrote in the release. “By doing this you help make a huge difference for women and children, whose lives, and well-being, are protected by seeking shelter at Hannah Home.”
