SCHS Theatre department is ‘off to see the Wizard’

COLUMBIANA – The Shelby County High School Theatre department is traveling to the magical land of Oz as it presents Tim Kelley’s “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz,” an adaptation of both the beloved book series by L. Frank Baum and MGM’s classic movie “The Wizard of Oz.”

Shows will take place in the SCHS auditorium March 3-5 at 6:30 p.m., and March 6 at 2:30 p.m.

A limited number of souvenir cast programs will be on sale for $5, and souvenir T-shirts are $15.

Tickets are $3 for students and $5 for adults and will be sold prior to the show.

Set Design by Michael Myrick, with the help of SCHS Art Teacher, Michelle Branson and her art students who created the beautiful flowers featured in Munchkinland.

Fighting Trees and Winged Monkey costumes created by Saren Binkerd, an SCHS alumnus, and Deadly Poppy costume design by Kayce Watkins and Ginger Clayton. Hannah Watkins choreographed the Deadly Poppy dance, and the play is directed by SCHS Theatre teacher Kathryn Andrews Myrick marking her 20th year teaching and directing.
