FROM STAFF REPORTS

Landline telephone services are out in a small area of Chelsea after a wreck damaged an AT&T junction box on U.S. 280 at 2:30 a.m. Feb. 25, according to a press release from the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office.

Businesses and residences along U.S. 280 from Shelby County 39 to Old U.S. 280, and from Shelby County 39 at Shelby County 337 to U.S. 280, had no landline telephone service as of about 1:30 p.m. Feb. 25.

Cell phone service is still working.

If an emergency occurs, residents should call 911 on a cell phone and remember to state their addresses. Cell phones, unlike landlines, do not automatically give a caller’s physical address to 911.

AT&T expects service to resume in four to six days, according to the release.
