Mary Frances Knowles
Clanton

Mary Frances Knowles, age 74, of Clanton, died Wednesday, Feb. 24.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Sunday, Feb. 28 at Bolton Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Randall Cemetery, Montevallo. Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m., Sunday, Feb. 28 at Bolton Funeral Home.

Mary Frances was born to Lee Roy Sumners and Ruth Ray Sumners. She grew up with her brother Glenn Sumners in the Crestwell community, where she was surrounded by a large loving family. She attended Vincent High School and was involved in student government, cheerleading, and was voted Homecoming queen her senior year, 1959.

After graduating high school, she married Johnny Morgan Beavers. They had two sons, Dr. Troy Beavers and John Thad Beavers. Mary Frances was very active in her community, church and school system. She was known for her beautiful smile, laughter and always had a loving and giving disposition. She was always busy, but never too busy to stop and hold a hand or listen to a story. Her true joy was in her family and friends but her soul was truly content when working alone in her many little gardens planting life.

She worked at Coosa Valley Academy as the Principal’s Assistant where she could be close to her sons. After their graduation, she found a successful career as one of the top realtors in the state. She later met and married Bill Knowles. They would spend her last 30 years together.

Mary Frances struggled with Vascular Dementia in her later years; a battle which she finally won at 3:44 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 24. She passed at her home surrounded by friends and family.

Mary is survived by her husband, Bill Knowles; sons, Dr. Troy Beavers and John Beavers; brother, Dr. Glenn Sumners; stepchildren, Kristine Knowles McKee, Bill F. Knowles Jr., and Catherine Knowles Turner, and many grandchildren. She will be greatly missed.
