PELHAM— Forty-five-year-old Horace Stevenson Sills III will send three years in prison after pleading guilty to a Class A felony count of trafficking marijuana in Pelham.

According to court documents, Sills’ original 10-year sentence will be split with three years to serve in the Alabama Penitentiary. The remainder of this sentence is “suspended for two years on probation supervised by the State Probation Office.”

Sills was sentenced during a Dec. 2, 2015, hearing at the Shelby County Courthouse.

The Hoover Police Department arrested Sills April 10, 2015, after he was found at his listed address on Lee Street in Pelham with more than 2.2 pounds of marijuana in his possession April 8, 2015.

Sills, who lists an address on Lee Street in Pelham, is required to pay all court costs, all medical expenses incurred in jail, $50 to the Crime Victims’ Compensation Fund and a fine of $25,000.

The court documents state that Sills will also subject himself to random drug and alcohol screens once on probation.

Sills was released from the Shelby County Jail Feb. 22 and transported to the Alabama Penitentiary. He will be credited with 78 days jail time.
