Funeral services for Mr. David “Jay” Newman, 43, of Anniston, will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 19 at K.L. Brown Memory Chapel in Golden Springs with Reverend Johnny Bonds officiating. Burial will follow at Oxford Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 12:30-2 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.

Jay passed away Tuesday, March 15 at NE Alabama Regional Medical Center.

Jay was a 1990 graduate of Walter Wellborn High School where he was an All State Quarterback and went on to attend Jacksonville State University. He spent 17 years working in sales, finance, and management in auto dealerships throughout the area.

In 2009, he started his own landscaping business, Rhema Lawn Care. Rhema is translated as “the spoken word of God” and Jay used his business as an outreach to share with others his relationship about Christ. Jay had a passion for health and fitness and worked as a personal trainer for the past 25 years.

Jay is preceded in death by a brother, Dalton Eugene Newman, and his grandparents, Dottie and Dalton Cates, Dorothy and Harold Horne, and Eugene Newman.

Jay is survived by his wife with whom he made a life with for the last 10 years, Bridgette Hardeman Newman of Anniston; their children, Blaine Newman of Helena, Sydney Newman of Anniston and Brock Trotter and Claire Trotter, both of Oxford; his parents, Billy and Diane Newman of Anniston; a brother, William Glen Newman of Saks; a sister, Morgan Wortham Pinkard and her husband, Matt, of Wedowee, his mother and father-in-law, Ronnie and Denise Hardeman, of Heflin; a sister-in-law, Meredith Payne of Oxford; grandmother, Vondell Raughton Fetner of Ashland, nieces and nephews, Hannah Diane Newman, Dalton Jay Newman, Peyton Jay Pinkard, Kynlee Ryan Pinkard, Ellis Linzy Payne, and Nolan Michael Payne; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Pallbearers will be Shane Simpson, Clay Mitcham, Jerry Carroll, Gerald Cates, Scott Cates, Ben Carroll, and Brandon Freeman.

Honorary pallbearers will be his close friends.
