Oneida Compton, “NaNa”, age 77 of Calera, passed away suddenly Thursday, March 31.

She is preceded by her loving husband of 51 years, Wayne “Buck” Compton; grandson, Jordan Lovejoy; mother, Rubye Bular; stepfather, Al Bular, and father, Jack Austell.

Oneida was a cosmetologist instructor for 12 years in Harvey, Ill., and was a beautician in Calera for 34 years. She was a unique and one of a kind lady. Kind hearted and full of love; everyone knew exactly where they stood with her.

Oneida is survived by her daughters, Sandi Lovejoy (George) of Calera and Debbie Braddock of Wilsonville; grandson, Lonnie Lovejoy (Beth); great granddaughter, Alana Lovejoy of Calera; brother, W.C. Austell (Dolly) of Peotone, Ill.; and numerous family and friends.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 5 at Rockco Funeral Home (Montevallo) from 5-7 p.m. for friends. Her services will be held Wednesday, April 6 at Rockco Chapel at 10:30 a.m. with burial to follow in Shelby Memory Gardens-Calera. Service will be officiated by Bro. Bill Trawick.
