Robert Lee Hayes, 68, of Maplesville passed away Sunday, April 3.

He was born on April 10, 1947 in Clanton, son of the late Clay Hayes and Marzelle Mims Hayes. Robert grew up in the Sardis community and graduated from Isabella High School in 1965. He served in the Navy Seabees during the Vietnam conflict. He retired from Bellsouth after 34 years of service.

Surviving are his wife, Alice Hayes; his two daughters, Renee (Kevin) Lenoir of Maplesville and Amy (Shawn) Ballew of Maplesville; four grandchildren, Jordan (Hope) Lenoir, Savannah Lenoir, Amelia Ballew, and Isabella Ballew, of Maplesville; brothers, Harry Hayes and Garry (Pat) Hayes; and sisters, Peggy Crawford and Jane Gore.

He was preceded in death by his siblings, Mary Newman, Frank Hayes, Howard Hayes, Ruby Harding, Betty Robinson, and Joann Ricks.

Friends will be received Tuesday, April 5 from 6-8 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home. Services will be held Wednesday, April 6 at 11 a.m. at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Billy Wyatt and Rev. David Bishop officiating. Interment will follow at Mulberry Baptist Church Cemetery in Maplesville.
