ALABASTER – A 25-year-old Dora woman is facing multiple felony charges after police said she allegedly had the components to create a meth lab in her car and gave a false identity to police after an April 6 shoplifting call in Alabaster.

The Shelby County Drug Enforcement Task Force arrested Christina Maria Roden, who lists an address on Crews Drive in Dora, on April 6 and charged her with felony counts of second-degree unlawful manufacturing of a controlled substance and obstructing justice by using a false identity and a misdemeanor count of use or possession of drug paraphernalia.

Drug Enforcement Task Force Commander Lt. Clay Hammac said Roden’s arrest came after the Alabaster Police Department received a call reporting a shoplifting incident from a shoe store in the Propst Promenade shopping center on the afternoon of April 6.

After a caller reported the shoplifting incident and provided a description of the suspect’s vehicle, Alabaster officers were able to locate and pull over the vehicle a short time later, Hammac said.

During the traffic stop, an officer allegedly spotted items needed to construct a meth lab in Roden’s vehicle and alerted the Drug Task Force, Hammac said.

According to her arrest warrants, Roden’s vehicle allegedly contained a box of Sudafed, cold packs, lithium batteries, drain cleaner, salt, camp fuel, rubber tubing and coffee filters. She also allegedly possessed syringes, a pipe and scales, according to her warrant.

Hammac said Roden identified herself as her sister when speaking to officers in an attempt to avoid prosecution on outstanding warrants against her, which led to her felony obstructing justice charge.

Roden currently is being held in the Shelby County Jail on bonds totaling $261,000, of which $250,000 is tied to the manufacture of a controlled substance charge.

Hammac praised the Alabaster Police Department for its work on the case.

“This is just an illustration of the dedication and professionalism those guys have while carrying out their law enforcement duties,” Hammac said. “Luckily, they were able to identify this young lady and get her off the road and get her the help she needs.”
