ALABASTER – Alabaster officials are encouraging drivers to use Shelby County 95 and First Avenue West as detours on April 25 and April 26, as CSX will close the Industrial Road railroad crossing those days.

CSX will close the Industrial Road crossing, which is near the Industrial Road-U.S. 31 intersection, beginning at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, April 25. The crossing will re-open to traffic on the evening of Tuesday, April 26.

While the crossing is closed, drivers are encouraged to travel on First Avenue West, which is behind the Alabaster Police Department, and on Shelby County 95. Industrial Road will only be open to local traffic during the closure.

“Please follow our social media accounts (Alabaster City Hall, Alabaster Police Department, Alabaster Fire Department) or website (Cityofalabaster.com) for updates should the schedule change,” read a post on the city’s website. “Emergency services have been notified. Please plan for extra travel time.”

The Industrial Road closure will come after CSX is closing the railroad crossing on Alabama 119 near Thompson Intermediate School from April 23-24.
