FROM STAFF REPORTS

HELENA–The Helena Elementary School second grade classes of Pam Clay, Heather Posey, Lisa Winter, Susan Curtis and Joseph Cochran recently spent an afternoon learning from two special officers from the Helena Police Department.

Helena Police officer Phillip Richards and his K-9 partner Bak demonstrated what they do at their jobs to help keep the community safe.

The students learned about jobs in law enforcement and how the K-9 unit is able to help when the community needs them.

In addition to working with the K-9 unit, Officer Richards also serves Helena Elementary School as a School Resource Officer.

“Bak only truly cares about his partner and his work, but was very patient to let the students and teachers pet him and take photos,” said Clay. “Thank you HPD for making this community the best and for your partnership in raising and educating our future.”
