CHELSEA – Some Wear in Time Consignment Boutique is growing in inventory and floor space.

The boutique, located at 16161 U.S. 280 in Chelsea, is expanding into 2,000 more square feet of space upstairs to accommodate nearly 20 boutique vendors.

Denise Cox said the vendor concept is new for her boutique, which she first opened in Vestavia 18 years ago and moved to Chelsea about two years ago.

“It’s going to come to life up here,” Cox said.

In addition to the boutique’s selection of women’s clothing and accessories, customers will find a wide array of new and high-end consigned items from vendors, including home décor, furniture, shoes, children’s clothing, handmade decorations, monogrammed goods and more.

The Mason Jar Women’s Clothing Boutique, 2CharmYou, Southern Born Boutique Designs and Drab2Fab Furniture Rehab are among the vendors at Some Wear in Time, and Cox is looking for a few more candidates.

“We are trying to find three more (vendors),” she said, noting the spaces have filled up quickly. The current vendors signed on within nine days of the boutique’s expansion announcement.

Each vendor space costs $150 per month to rent. Aside from rent payments, the only responsibility vendors have regarding the store is stocking their booths.

“We do everything for them for $150,” Cox said, noting the cost includes a full-time sales team, utilities and advertising via email and social media is part of the monthly rate.

An open house is set for Saturday, May 28, from 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Some Wear in Time Consignment Boutique to kick off the upstairs opening. Refreshments and door prizes will be available.

A wine and cheese event was held May 23 to celebrate the addition of Rodan + Fields to the boutique.

Cox, who served as a mall marketing director for 15 years previously, said she is hoping the boutique’s new chapter is a long-term success.

“I know retail and I know marketing,” she said. “I just thought I’m going to get back to the basics of what I’ve been trained to do.”
