Albert M. “Mike” Simmons, 61, passed away at Dekalb Medical Center in Fort Payne Monday, May 23.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Margie Blackerby; one sister, Peggy Whitson; and one niece, Kristie Youngblood.

Mike was an avid Alabama football and a NASCAR fan, Dale Earnhardt, Jr. being his favorite driver.

He is survived by his wife, Karen Malone; two sons, Charles Simmons and Jason Simmons (Angie); three daughters, Tessa, Tiffany and Addilei Buttram; father, Charles Simmons (Betty Lou); sisters, Pat Mills (Mike) and Denise Batson (Lloyd); and several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Thursday, May 26 from 5-7 p.m. at Deerfoot Memorial Funeral Home.
