HELENA–The Helena Huskies boys and girls soccer teams finished the 2016 season on high notes, as the boys captured the AHSAA 5A state championship and the girls made it to the Final Four, and the stellar seasons have reflected in the year-end rankings.

Eurosportscoreboard.com releases a top ten weekly poll for various classes for the duration of soccer season and with a final record of 18-7-2 and a state championship, the Helena boys soccer team finished No. 1 in the Class 4A-5A rankings.

The Helena Lady Huskies played some tough teams in the regular season and finished below .500 heading into the postseason. Helena made a run in the postseason defeating Carver, Calera and Marbury to make it to the Final Four for the first time ever.

The Lady Huskies fell in the semifinals to St. Paul’s but finished with an overall record of 7-15 and finished No. 3 in the Class 4A-5A rankings.

Other county teams that finished in the top ten were the Westminster School at Oak Mountain boys, the Indian Springs boys and girls, the Pelham boys, the Briarwood boys, the Chelsea girls, the Oak Mountain boys and girls and the Spain Park boys and girls.
