Montgomery named Montevallo Elementary assistant principal

ALABASTER–The Shelby County Board of Education approved a new assistant principal position for Montevallo Elementary School at a June 14 board meeting.

Current Calera Elementary School second grade teacher Shannon Montgomery was approved as the new assistant principal and will remain in the Shelby County School District.

Montgomery has more than 11 years of experience in elementary education and has a bachelor of science degree in social work, a masters degree in elementary education and certification and instructional leadership from the University of Montevallo. Montgomery also has an educational specialist degree in elementary education from the University of West Alabama.

“Thank you so much for this opportunity to the board members, school leaders and to Dr. Campbell for this opportunity,” said Montgomery. “I’m very excited about being in Montevallo and I’m looking forward to getting to know and maintaining and working with the students, parents, teachers and the community members.”

Montgomery said she was excited to continue working in the Shelby County School District where she is “already invested in the community and excited for the new journey.”
