PELHAM— Schools in the Pelham system are hosting a variety of events to finalize registration and help students prepare for the new school year. According to the PCS website, the events will stretch from July to early August, culminating with the first day of school Aug. 11.

Pelham City Schools is transitioning to online registration for the 2016-17 school year. The online system, called InfoSnap, is a web-based portal for registering and updating student information.

If a student was enrolled in a Pelham school last year, they are considered a returning student even if they are moving up to a different school.

Parents of returning students should have received an email from InfoSnap that includes a Snapcode. The Snapcode is a personalized link to create an online account that will be pre-populated with your student’s information.

After activating the account, parents should review all of the information, make any updates and upload two proofs of residency dated for June.

The deadline to complete the account activation process, review the student information, and upload your two proofs of residency documents dated for June is Friday, July 8.

All new students must make an appointment with the registrar at the school where they are enrolling.

Elementary school dates

All kindergarten students and those who have not uploaded proof of residency to their student’s InfoSnap account need to attend registration on Thursday, July 14 from 8 to 11:30 a.m. or Wednesday, July 20 from noon to 3 p.m.

Uploaded proofs must be dated June or July.

Meet the Teacher will take place Aug. 9 for all students in grades kindergarten through fifth. Students should attend either the afternoon or evening session time that corresponds with the first letter of the student’s last name.

Students with a last name that starts with letters AL may attend from noon to 1:30 p.m. or from 5:15 to 6:15 p.m., and students with last name that starts with MZ may attend from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. or from 6:15 p.m. to 7:15 p.m.

Teacher placements for both Pelham Ridge and Pelham Oaks will be mailed to students prior to Meet the Teacher Aug. 9.

All preordered school supplies will be delivered to the students’ classrooms.

Middle school dates

Riverchase Middle School will host registration on Thursday, July 21. Sixth grade students may register from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. and the seventh and eighth grade students time slot is from 1 to 4 p.m.

Make up registration will be held Thursday, July 28 from 4 to 6 p.m. for all grades.

Postcards will be sent to all registered students this summer listing all the required paperwork and fees will be noted on the card. If all items have been taken care of and registration is complete, students and parents are not required to attend registration.

Incoming sixth-graders are invited to attend Sixth Grade Academy Wednesday, Aug. 10 from 3 to 5 p.m. to get better acquainted with the school and their schedules.

All preordered school supplies should be picked up at the school July 21.

High school dates

Pelham High School will host registration at the school from July 25 to July 28, depending on grade level. All students are required to attend registration on the assigned date for their grade level.

All grades may attend registration from 8 to 10 a.m. or from 5 to 7 p.m. on their assigned days. The following are the assigned registration days:

Seniors: Monday, July 25

Juniors: Tuesday, July 26

Sophomores: Wednesday, July 27

Freshmen: Thursday, July 28

The high school will host a makeup registration date for all grades Wednesday, Aug. 3 from noon to 5 p.m.

Freshmen orientation, dubbed Camp Pelham, will be held Wednesday, Aug. 10 from 8:30 to 11 a.m. Students will be given the opportunity to get to know the PHS campus and administrators, so they will be better prepared for starting school Aug. 11.
