Billy Joe Brasher, age 80, of Shelby, passed away Friday, July 8.

The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, July 11 at Bolton Funeral Home with Rev. Joel Miller presiding. Visitation was from 4-6 p.m., Sunday, July 10 at Bolton Funeral Home. Burial will follow in New Shelby Cemetery. Bolton Funeral Home is directing.

The Great Outdoors called Bill from a young age as he loved hunting and fishing, and was an expert archer and marksman. Bill’s love for the outdoors was surpassed only by his love for his family and the University of Georgia Bulldogs. On football Saturdays, you could always hear Bill say “How ‘bout them Dawgs!”

Bill is survived by his son, Chris Brasher (Tracey); daughter, Lisa Brasher (Pattie); grandsons, Christopher and Eric Brasher; nephews, Gregg Brasher (Carol) and Jon Brasher (Shay); niece, Beverly Henson (Scott); and numerous other family and friends.
