Billy Frank Knowles Sr.
Clanton

Billy Frank Knowles Sr. passed away Wednesday, July 13, just one day shy of his 76th birthday. He was a native of Montevallo and long-time resident of Lake Mitchell in Clanton where he enjoyed fishing, boating and entertaining friends and family.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, July 16, at Bolton Funeral Home with Rev. Sid Nichols officiating. Visitation will be from 9-11 a.m., Saturday, July 16, at Bolton Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Richardson-Randall Cemetery in Montevallo. Bolton Funeral Home is directing.

Bill was known as a fun-loving, hard-working man. You knew when he walked in the room that it was just a matter of time before he would have you smiling.  A serial entrepreneur, he showed us how to succeed in business and life. Bill had a life-long love of music, never missing an opportunity to sing.  As a youth, he led the choir at Concord Baptist Church in Calera, and was a member of the award winning 4H quartet called the Suicide Four.

He loved his family but had a special place in his heart for his grandkids and was excited to see what the future held for each of them. Over the years Bill enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing golf but his most favorite past time was watching Alabama football.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Randall Knowles and Myrtice Brown Knowles; his wife, Mary Frances Knowles; his sisters, Myrtis Williams and Edna Jackson; and his best friend and fishing buddy, Bob Sullivan.

Bill is survived by three children: daughter, Kristina Knowles, son, Bill Knowles Jr. and daughter, Kathy Knowles (Tommy) Turner, all of Chelsea; stepsons, Troy Beavers and John Beavers; five grandchildren, Jessica Knowles (Austin) Reaves of Orlando, Fla., Colton Turner, Cade Turner, Chanlee Turner and Ben Knowles of Chelsea; a brother, Whit (Pat) Knowles; a sister, Betty Jo Billingsly; the mother of his children, Brenda Thomason Knowles; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
