Kyle Walter McClure, age 93, of Trussville, passed into the presence of His Lord Jesus on Monday, July 18.

He was a pharmacist of 47 years having graduated from Howard College. He owned pharmacies in Montevallo and Trussville. As one of eight children, he grew up on a farm near Sylacauga and graduated from B.B. Comer High School in 1943.

He was preceded in death by his parents, seven siblings, one daughter, and two grandchildren.

Kyle responded to his nation’s call to fight in World War II and served honorably as a paratrooper with the 511th Parachute Infantry Regiment of the 11th Airborne Division. He completed two combat jumps in the Pacific Theater and also participated in the daring raid that liberated more than 2,000 Allied POWs from the Los Baños Internment Camp in the Philippines.

He is survived by his precious wife of 31 years, Myrtle Johnson McClure of Trussville; a daughter, Cheryl McClure Blackmon of Birmingham; a step-son, Kenneth Milton Fountain of Wilsonville; a step-daughter, Myra Beth Fountain Sinclair of Shoal Creek; three grandchildren, John Michael Blackmon of Satsuma, Rachel Blackmon Bryars of Madison, and Anna Joy Blackmon Powell of Cape Giradeau, Mo.; and ten great grandchildren.

Kyle was a member of Mountain View Baptist Church and a former member of McCalla Bible Church.

A memorial service will be held at Briarwood Presbyterian Church, Acton Road, on Friday, July 22 at 2 p.m.
