COLUMBIANA – The 2016 Shelby County Shindig drew hundreds to downtown Columbiana on July 16 for an afternoon full of barbecue, brews and live music.
Barbecue teams included The Chow Hall, Big D’s BBQ, Butt Naked, Smoke N’ Nutz, 2 Fat Guys and a Grill, Industrial Staffing, Tin Top BBQ, Mundy Motors, Southern Flavor (Chevron Columbiana) and Rob’s Gourmet.

The following awards were presented:
•Overall Grand Prize Winner – Rob’s Gourmet
•Best Ribs First Place – Rob’s Gourmet
•Best Ribs Runner Up – Butt Naked
•Best Sauce First Place – Rob’s Gourmet
•Best Sauce Runner Up – Southern Flavor
•Best of Chef’s Choice First Place – Industrial Staffing
•Best of Chef’s Choice Runner Up – Butt Naked
•People’s Choice First Place – Smoke N’ Nutz
•People’s Choice Runner Up – Butt Naked
Judges for the event included Van Sykes (Bob Sykes Bar-b-Que), Brent Falkenhagen (KCBS Judge), Benard Tamburello (Bernies on Main and Vecchia Pizzaria & Mercato), Michael Bratton and Dale Jones (APH Radio).
The Magic City Blues Society sponsored the music and stage. Others present included the sponsors, volunteers, vendors and city leaders.
