COLUMBIANA – A 40-year-old Maylene woman is facing multiple felony charges after she allegedly distributed suboxone in Alabaster on multiple occasions, according to the Shelby County Drug Enforcement Task Force.

The Task Force arrested Stephanie Therese Murray, who lists an address on Magnolia Lane in Maylene, on Aug. 1 and charged her with two felony counts of distribution of a controlled substance and one felony count of possession of a controlled substance.

Distribution of a controlled substance is a Class B felony, and carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison upon conviction, according to Alabama law. Possession of a controlled substance is a Class D felony, and carries a maximum prison sentence of five years upon conviction.

Murray’s arrest came after she allegedly distributed suboxone twice in the Alabaster area. Suboxone is a controlled substance commonly used by medical professionals to treat opioid painkiller addiction.

According to Murray’s arrest warrants, she allegedly distributed suboxone from her residence on Dec. 17, 2015, and again on Butler Road on Feb. 10 of this year.

When she was arrested on Aug. 1, Murray allegedly was in possession of clonazepam, crack cocaine, powder cocaine, heroin and Xanax.

She was released from the Shelby County Jail on Aug. 3 after posting bonds totaling $30,000. She is scheduled to appear in Shelby County District Court on Aug. 31 for a preliminary hearing.
