CALERA – Lifelong Calera resident Kenny Cost said he decided to run for Calera City Council because he wants to help create an environment that encourages businesses to invest in the city.

“The future of Calera will be determined by what we do now,” he said. “I grew up in Calera and attended Calera High School, so I know first-hand that Calera is a great place to raise a family and operate a small business.”

Cost said his highest priority will always be to keep the community safe. His said his goal would be to maintain police and fire presence in every part of the city and provide the city’s first responders with the training and equipment necessary to do their jobs properly.

“As your working city councilman, I will strive to keep Calera clean and attractive to people seeking to live in this area or just passing through our beautiful and productive city,” Cost said. “Our maintenance department deserves credit for a beautiful Calera and every effort should be taken to keep it that way.

A major concern for Calera residents is the start and completion of the interstate bridge at Exit 231. If elected, Cost said he would work with local and state officials to make sure the project is completed as quickly and efficiently as possible.

“This project will improve and solve many of the traffic problems in Calera,” he said.

Cost said he can offer new and worthwhile ideas to the Calera City Council.

The Municipal Election will be 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Aug. 23 at the Roy Downs Memorial Calera Library, 9700 Highway 25.
