VANDIVER – Coffee and Conversation with State Sen. Slade Blackwell, R-Birmingham, will be held in Vandiver Tuesday, Aug. 30, at 8:30 a.m.

The event will take place at the Vandiver Sterett Senior Center, at 12205 County Road 43.

In attendance will be State Sen. Blackwell as well as State Rep. Dickie Drake and State Sen. Jim McClendon, R-Springville.

On the agenda will be topics that have been brought up at the special session over the past week down in Montgomery, such as the lottery and Medicaid.

“It’s normally a town hall type of event,” said Director of Legislative Affairs Courtney Ellis. “It gives the community a chance to voice their concerns and for Sen. Blackwell to see what is going on in the community so he can help them out.”

The event, which usually lasts about 45 minutes, will be informal and open to anybody that wishes to attend.

“They can drink coffee and just talk with Blackwell and the others about their concerns and get a better understanding of what is going on in the government,” Ellis said.
